Who I am

I think about feelings as memories alerting us to what we are missing and where we are struggling. When we give these feelings space, we learn valuable information about what we need to feel less stuck. Many clients come in without really knowing what is wrong or what they need; they just know that they feel overwhelmed and tired of things never changing.

I believe we are made up of a multitude of parts that often battle to be heard and seen, and often in getting to know these parts and understand their protective qualities, we are able to feel compassionate towards them. This helps them feel able to step back and allow us to begin living more fully and authentically.

My background in journalism is where I first began holding people’s stories and noticing how much we need to be witnessed in order to thrive. My own life has included crossing cultures. I left my native South Africa to teach English in Japan, where I fell in love with and studied the tea ceremony and Ikebana.

Clinical Formation

Before starting private practice, I spent several years working in intensive mental health settings with clients navigating eating disorders, trauma, addiction, and complex emotional and relational struggles.

My clinical approach has been shaped by psychodynamic and attachment-focused training, including a concentration in British object relations and a year-long infant observation. These experiences deepened my interest in how early emotional environments continue to shape the ways people relate, protect themselves, and experience connection throughout adulthood.
